Wyrmspan is a fantasy engine-building board game designed by Connie Vogelmann and published by Stonemaier Games.
Game Overview
Players & Playtime: 1–5 players, roughly 90 minutes per game, recommended for ages 14 and up.
Premise: You play as an amateur dracologist excavating a hidden underground labyrinth to build a sanctuary for dragons of all shapes and sizes.
Relationship to Wingspan: While inspired by the card-driven and engine-building mechanisms of Wingspan, Wyrmspan is a standalone game with unique mechanics and is not compatible with it.
Core Gameplay Mechanics
Three Cave Types: Your sanctuary features three distinct regions: the Crimson Cavern, Golden Grotto, and Amethyst Abyss.
Main Actions: Over the course of 4 rounds, you spend coins and resources to take three primary actions:
Excavate: Play cave cards onto your player mat to prepare spaces for dragons.
Entice: Play dragon cards into your excavated caves by paying their resource and egg costs.
Explore: Move your adventurer through your caves from left to right to activate dragon abilities and collect bonuses.
Dragon Guilds: You advance on guild tracks to earn extra favor and bonuses throughout the game.
